Born in London, UK, Abi holds a BA Hons in Theatre Arts and a Master of Arts in Drama Studies. Abi trained at the Royal Ballet as a child and moved on to Circus A rts at Circomedia, Bristol (UK) as an adult. During her time in Bristol she co-founded Prometheus, a fire performance troupe, and Captive Theatre a physical comedy ensemble.
As co founder of Australia's Sticky Planet Network she has devised and performed original comic physical theatre work on stage and street throughout Europe, Asia and Australia. In 2002 Abi made her television debut as a tree (!) on the children's series, Guinevere Jones, but remains devoted to the creation and performance of live work.
Abi performed her first solo street theatre show, Fire On The Nile in 1995. This show has toured throughout Northern Europe and Australia, where Abi was a two-time winner of the Campus Activities Victoria, "Best Street Performer" award for Fire On The Nile.
Une Femme Exposee – Catch A Falling Star is her second major solo work for the street. The work was developed with the assistance of Espace Catastophe, Brussels, during the Atelier Creation Pour Rue in May of this year.
At present Abi divides her time between Antwerp (Anvers), Belgium, and Melbourne, Australia. She remains a devoted committee member of ACAPTA, the Australian Circus and Physical Theatre Association, and is editor and head writer of the organisation's magazine, Moving On! |
